Fire Safety Education

Fire Safety Education

The Newton County Fire Department is dedicated to preventing fire and unsafe conditions by educating the community with the most up to date information and safe practices via The Newton County Fire Safety Education Division.

The Fire Safety Education Division teaches children and adults about the dangers of fire and how to prevent one from happening in your home, school, or place of business as well as what to do if one does occur. The division provides fire safety presentations at schools, daycares, festivals...etc. Truck tours, fire station tours, and fire engine presence can also be scheduled. Smoke alarms can be provided for those in need (if available), as well as smoke alarm installation, carbon monoxide alarm installation, and car seat inspections.  Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years.

To schedule a presentation, tour, alarm, installation, car seat inspection, or request a fire engine to be present at your event please contact Newton County Fire Department’s Fire Safety Specialist James Franklin at 678-212-5411 or by email at jfranklin@co.newton.ga.us.

Stop The Bleed Training Kits

Stop The Bleed is a course that anyone can take to learn how to stop major bleeding using tourniquets and wound packing. This knowledge could save a coworker, a student, a neighbor, a family member, or even a complete stranger. Newton County Fire Safety Specialist James Franklin will soon be teaching Stop The Bleed courses. Two Stop The Bleed training kits were able to be purchased for Newton County Fire through the Walmart Community Grant. A special thanks to Walmart located at 4200 Salem Rd, Covington, Ga 30016 for your support.
