Those looking to adopt an animal from Newton County's Animal Services will do so in a new and improved space on Lower River Road.
Newton County celebrated the ribbon cutting for the new and improved Animal Services Shelter on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
The expansion was approved by Newton County voters as part of the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum.
The building includes a separate area for cats and dogs, more space to house cats and more runs for dogs to stay prior to adoption. There is also a room for prospective families to meet with dogs and cats prior to adoption and additional staff space.
