Around 60 roads blocked in Newton County
from Irma cause blockage throughout the county
Dozens of emergency and public works crews from around Newton County are working on clearing 60 roads Tuesday in the aftermath of Tropical Storm force winds that came through the county from Hurricane Irma.
Twenty Newton County Sheriff's Office Deputies, 7 Newton County Fire Services teams and eight Public Works crews are working on repairing power lines and clearing trees and debris from roadways.
As of 2 p.m. Tuesday there were 5,711 Snapping Shoals, 968 Georgia Power and many Covington utilities customers still without power.
