Biography

Demond Mason is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and has resided in Georgia for 18 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma City University and in 2020 he was honored with an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarianism for the work he has done as a Newton County Commissioner. He worked for The Coca-Cola Company for 16 years in Project Management and recently transitioned into entrepreneurship. He previously held the position of Vice President of Education through The Coca-Cola Company chapter of Toastmasters International. He has received several awards from Toastmasters International, such as Best Speaker and Best Table Topics. He served as Chairman of the Board for Destined for Greatness Outreach Center, Incorporated in Atlanta, Georgia in 2014-15.

Mason is well respected in his community where he has served on the Newton County Board of Commissioners since January 2019. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Public Facilities Authority. He has committed time to the Newton County Democratic Party as a full committee member and the former Parliamentarian. He is very active in his local religious assembly where he has served as the Director of Ministerial Alliance, Director of Married Couples Ministry, Executive Administrative Assistant and Financial Committee Officer. He has volunteered with several community service organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry, Books of Africa, the Aids Walk and UNIDOS Latino Association Rockdale/Newton County. 

Mason is dedicated to his family. He is happily married to Jasmine Mason and they have four wonderful children, Jaylon, Ariell, T.J and Tristan.

Mason has a proven record of business experience and servant leadership. He admires a quote from Nelson Mandela which states, “It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.”
